THE FEAST OF THE ASCENSION THURSDAY 13th MAY Michaelangelo, "The Ascension" The Feast of the Ascension is a Holy Day of Obligation by which, forty days after the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection from the dead, we celebrate His Ascension into heaven, recounted by St Luke in Acts (1:1-11), in which Christ said to His disciples: “But you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth. And when He had said these things, while they looked on, He was raised up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
