THE FEAST OF ST MICHAEL - MICHAELMAS
29th SEPTEMBER
THE SWORD OF ST MICHAEL
Seven ancient Catholic churches dedicated to St Michael are linked in a straight line across Europe, reaching from Skellig Michael off the cost of Ireland and finishing at Haifa, Israel.
Legend says that the line represents the blow St Michael inflicted upon the devil when he drove him to hell.*
Gelsomino del Guercio pointed out that;
“The sacred line also is perfectly aligned with the sunset on the day of the Northern hemisphere’s Summer Solstice” The summer solstice is the day of the great feast of John the Baptist“*

The aligned monasteries include:
Skellig Michael (Ireland); an island off the coast of Ireland, founded by Celtic monks between the 6th and 8th centuries. It remained inhabited until the 12th century, after which the cold and stormy climate drove the monks from the site - (after 600 years!). The beehive huts, in which the monks lived, are still there. St Michael is said to have appeared to St Patrick on this island.
St Michael’s Mount, (Cornwall), an island off the coast of Cornwall. At low tide, the island joins the mainland. St Michael is said to have appeared to fishermen here.
Mont Saint- Michel (Normandy), an island off the coast of Normandy - again, joining the mainland at low tide. In 709 AD St Michael appeared to St Aubert here, urging him to build an abbey. The Benedictine Abbey was completed in 900 AD.
Sacra di san Michele, Val de Susa, Piedmont, (Italy), a Benedictine abbey built on top of Mount Pirchiriano. Construction of the abbey began in the year 1000 AD. An inn is part of the monastery, as this holy place is on the pilgrim route of the Via Francigena.
Santuario di San Michele del Gargano, Puglia, (Italy). The Sanctuary of St Michael was constructed in 490 AD when St Michael appeared to San Lorenzo Malorano.
Monastery of the Taxiarchis Symi Island (Greece): This Orthodox monastery houses a three metre high icon of the Archangel.
Stella Maris Monastery, Mount Carmel, Haifa, (Israel) - a monastery dating from the 12th century. 30 kilometres from Haifa is the site of the ancient city of Megiddo. An early bronze age town, it is archeologically significant under its Greek name, Armageddon.
